2019 Glass Gathering Art Show
The sixth annual Glass Gathering Art Show took place on April 27, 2019 at Harmony Stained Glass in Pasadena, Texas. The show provides two events occurring simultaneously; a juried-entry division, and an open entry exhibition of glass art works. Both divisions were viewed and evaluated by guest juror Michael Crowder. Ribbons were given for first and second place in each category. Cash prizes were awarded for Best in Show, Technical Merit and People's Choice. Artists and attendees enjoyed a wine and cheese reception while making connections at the close of the evening. Thanks to our host, Joyce Sullivan; to all the volunteers from Glass Gathering who prepared and staged the show; and the glass artists who participated.
2019 Guest Juror - Michael Crowder
Michael Crowder is a mixed media sculptor who exhibits across the US and internationally. Originally from New Orleans, he is currently based in Houston, Texas. His sculpture often incorporates museum “art/ifacts” made of glass particles fused together in a variation of the historical pâte de verre technique.
He has been honored with nomination for the Louis Comfort Tiffany Biennial Award and multiple Artist-in-Residence Fellowships at the Dora Maar House in Ménerbes, France. Recently he was one of only two Americans invited to participate in an international sculpture park project involving 30 artists from 15 countries held in Bodh Gaya, India.
Museum collections include the Museum of American Glass, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and Gandhi Maidan Museum, Patna, India.
